Apple Announces $299 HomeView

Apple Announces $299 HomeView

Apple announced HomeView on October 13, a $299 display for entertainment, communication, and smart home control. Preorders opened the same day in initial markets, with availability starting November 13. Apple will not sell HomeView in the European Union at launch, citing the absence of Siri AI in iOS there.

HomeView has a 7-inch Liquid Retina touchscreen and comes in tabletop and wall-mounted versions, both priced at $299 in the US. The tabletop model combines a tilting screen with a speaker base. Wall mounts cost extra, starting at $59.95.

The device recognizes up to six enrolled users and switches to their apps and widgets. Apple says private Messages and Calendar content appears only after facial recognition, while the person's paired iPhone or iPad is present and recently unlocked. Siri's personal-context features also require an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad.

HomeView supports FaceTime, music, and control of compatible Apple Home and Matter accessories. Its camera dashboard displays up to nine feeds simultaneously. Supported iCloud+ subscriptions enable additional camera recognition and HomeKit Secure Video features.

Apple also announced a fourth-generation Apple TV 4K for $299. Built-in far-field microphones support hands-free Siri, and four compatible HomePod speakers provide surround sound. Sales begin November 13.

The $149 HomePod mini 2 arrives earlier, on October 30. Preorders opened October 13. Siri AI will arrive in a future software update, not with the speaker.

Apple's Home Collection, developed with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, adds cameras, a video doorbell, a smart lock, thermostats, and temperature sensors. Accessories pair through iPhone and use the Home app without a separate vendor account.

US prices start at $199.95 for indoor cameras and thermostats, $249.95 for the wired video doorbell, $349.95 for the smart lock, and $399.95 for the floodlight camera. Temperature sensors cost $39.95. Availability begins in December, with selected accessories following in early 2027.
